ECHO, INC. TO RECEIVE NOURISHING NEIGHBORS DONATIONS MADE AT
LOCAL ALBERTSONS AND SAFEWAY STORES IN SEPTEMBER

Farmington, NM – 9/15/21 – Economic Council Helping Others (ECHO), Inc. has been selected as a charity
partner for Albertsons and Safeway stores and will receive donations from its annual Nourishing
Neighbors campaign aimed at helping ensure every child has access to a healthy breakfast.

All donations made at the Albertsons and Safeway stores (Farmington and Aztec locations) will be used to
purchase individually packaged, easy-to-open breakfast foods for kids at risk of going hungry. These foods
will be put together in a bag to create about 5 breakfast meals and distributed to children during the
summer of 2022.

“Young minds and bodies need a healthy breakfast to kick of their day,” said ECHO, Inc. CEO, Nanette
Pinckney. “Eating breakfast improves alertness, concentration, mental performance and mood. We’re
thrilled to have been selected as the charity partner for these Albertsons and Safeway stores and grateful
to the Albertsons and Safeway Foundation’s Nourishing Neighbors initiative for their ongoing commitment
to fighting hunger in our communities.”

ECHO, Inc. has been providing meals to the kids of San Juan County for over 20 years through our
Backpack for Children program. Food filled backpacks are provide to over 26 schools to provide to
children identified as food insecure when not in school during the weekend and holiday breaks. These
food filled backpacks not only benefit the child receiving it, but many times their younger siblings as well.
Nourishing Neighbors aims to fight hunger by helping keep Food Banks stocked, supporting meal
distribution programs at schools, and supporting programs that provide food to seniors. As a program of
Albertsons and Safeway Foundation, it is working to eradicate childhood hunger in America. With as many
as 1 in 4 children in America at risk of hunger, the funds raised in September will be dedicated to local
efforts that ensure every child has access to a healthy breakfast.

Breakfast is an essential school supply for kids to learn, grow, and thrive and together we are making our
neighborhoods better places for our children to grow up.

Anyone wishing to support ECHO, Inc. through this program can go to their local Albertsons and Safeway
store and make a donation to Nourishing Neighbors at checkout September 1-30.

Together we can empower our community to thrive.
