Alicia is a native New Mexican from Espanola, where she grew up helping run her family’s small business. At the University of New Mexico, she was a double major in Southwest Studies and Political Science, and she earned her BA in 1999. In 2010, she graduated Delta Mu Delta, from New Mexico Highlands University Graduate School of Business earning her MBA. Alicia continued her professional development as a 2014-2015 Noyce Leadership Institute Fellow.
Alicia began her career at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science in 1999, and rose through the ranks to become the Museum’s Deputy Director in 2008. In October 2014, Alicia joined Explora Science Center & Children’s Museum as the Director of Administration & Operations, and later became the Senior Manager of Administration & Operations at the Flying Heritage Collection in Everett, WA. In December 2016, Alicia was named President & CEO of the Economic Council Helping Others Inc. in Farmington, NM.
In her many years working in science museums, Alicia created many important community engagement initiatives, launched successful marketing campaigns for both permanent and traveling exhibits, improved the visitor experience, created a strong social media presence, and strengthened administrative and operational infrastructures. As President & CEO of ECHO Inc., Alicia works daily with communities to provide resources and education to individuals on their journey to improve their lives.
